Lake District Preparation Weekend - January
The breathtakingly beautiful Borrowdale Valley at sunset.
What went down.
The weekend started with a visit to our main catering partner in Kendal. We met with Mel and the team at Lakes Sandwiches to chat through our nutrition and fuelling requirements for the camps this summer.
We love working with Lakes Sandwiches as all of their produce is locally sourced in Cumbria. It’s high quality, nutritious, and supports local farmers.

Following this meeting, we stopped over at Northern Warrior Gym in Egremont to see our friends at Custom Collective T-Shirts. These guys are doing great things in the custom garments space and are working on some cool items for Camp Kaizen.
Keep your eyes on our socials for when we drop some of these items for purchase.

The next morning started with a sunrise hike up the famous Cat Bells hill on the banks of Derwentwater. This was fun hike, and although we didn’t catch a clean sunrise, the sky was light up with stars and the scenes on the way up were epic. Although we don’t plan on including sunrise walks on camp this year, this route will be on of our go to hikes on camp.
The hike was followed by a recovery plunge in Derwentwater. Needless to say, it was fresh! A few additional degrees of warmth in summer will be most welcome!
This plunge, followed by a strong coffee or two at our accommodation provided the energy needed for the rest of the day.
On Saturday afternoon we headed into the nearby town of Keswick to meet our main partner gym for our 2026 camps – Beyond Fitness Keswick.
We met with Andy, the gym owner, and discussed how best to utilise the facilities to kick off each of the camps. We will be using the space for our initial HIIT workout upon arrival on camp.
They also have some exciting expansion plans which include a full recovery area. More to follow on this…

Me and Andy outside Beyond Fitness Keswick. A great setup.
Sunday morning started with an early run around the nearby Buttermere Lake. This is stunning 7KM loop which we will be using on camp.
Following the run, we headed over for our final meeting with our site partner, Seathwaite Farm & Campsite. This is situated in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley, at the foothills of Scafell Pike.
We met with Peter, the farm owner, and had some great conversations about plans for our camp setup and on-site gym.
