What is Camp Kaizen?

A multi-night training experience in the Lake District designed to strip things back.

Spectacular surroundings define your training on camp. Expect team runs through breath taking landscapes and off-feet conditioning and strength sessions at our affiliate and camp-based gyms.

Running distances range from 5KM - 10KM daily.

Summit local peaks. Live the landscape through challenging group hikes, and unlock new levels of physical and mental potential.

Hike time ranges from 2-5 hours daily.

Recovery is vital to peak performance. Recover effectively through daily plunges in nature’s ice baths, unlimited access to our recovery equipment, high-volume nutritious local produce, and comfortable glamping accommodation.

Cold plunge time ranges from 1 minute - 5 minutes.

FAQ on Camp Kaizen

  • The Kaizen team ensures that camps are made up of people at similar levels of fitness abilities. Whether you are an elite athlete looking to push to the next level or are earlier in your fitness journey, there is a camp for you. All camp options are clearly labelled with recommended fitness abilities, and following registration, you will speak to a Kaizen member of staff for further confirmation that you’re good to go. All of these measures ensure a challenging and enjoyable experience for all.

  • Your camp fee covers the following: Pre-camp tailored training programme, Kaizen training merchandise to wear on camp and keep, full glamping accommodation and camp amenities ready for your arrival, all meals and healthy snacks (locally sourced, nutritious and plentiful), multiple daily guided training sessions tailored to your ability (gym, cold, run, hike), safety support from a qualified team, camp aftercare, and the opportunity to meet new likeminded people in a truly unique setting. Pick up and drop off at local train stations also included.

  • We'll send a detailed kit list upon booking. Essential items include: hiking boots, warm layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, swimwear for cold water sessions, towel, water bottle, and personal items. Full details provided with registration.

  • We provide detailed travel information including transport options from major UK cities. Many participants arrange carpools with other attendees. Nearest train stations and pick-up points will be shared before your camp dates. We ensure your journey to and from camp is as smooth as possible.

  • Absolutely! Many participants come solo and find it's a great way to meet like-minded people. The group dynamic naturally fosters connection, and you'll leave with new friendships. Solo or with a friend - both work brilliantly.

    • Level 3 Personal Trainer & Level 2 Gym Instructor qualifications.

    • STA Level 2 Open Water Safety qualification.

    • Ex-professional athletes.

    • Military experience.

    • National champion in martial arts.

    • Road and trail running experts - extensive experience competing in and pacing marathons, and other outdoor events in the Lake District.

    • Experience in other ultra endurance events such as Ironman races.

    • 30+ years of hiking experience in the Lake District.

    • Duke of Edinburgh awards and comprehensive outdoor orientation skills.

    • First Aid and Food Hygiene certifications.

  • Yes - we offer custom packages which are specifically designed for teams looking to build resilience, leadership skills, and stronger collaboration. We tailor the programming to your organisation's goals while maintaining the core Kaizen challenge. Corporate camp slots are available throughout summer, beyond the dates displayed on our website.

  • Every session during the weekend is tailored around your foundational fitness levels, and appetite for challenge. The Kaizen team can adjust session volume and duration during the weekend accordingly. Feel like you’ve got more in the tank on the final day or want to ease off the volume? No problem - the on-camp staff will alter the programme in real time to suit your requirements.

  • Yes. We provide a fully kitted out site set up, including 10 high-quality bell tents, a large covered communal area, electricity for all technological needs, and more.

  • You will sleep in a glamping-style 4M Bell Tent. 2 camp attendees per Bell Tent. If you signed up with a friend, you will be able to stay in them.

    For the Masters / 40+ camp, there is the option to upgrade to a stay in a single tent by yourself.
